I spent all of 2025 learning how to have a successful YouTube channel and brand. But all I really learned was the place is full of phonies trying to get some money off me. A big part of me wants to name names, but I don't really want to tackle this endeavor with that kind of energy. They made me feel dirty and sleazy. Lesson learned. So I decided to just go it alone like I normally do and figure it out. After all, that path has never failed me before. I'm a master at manifesting.
That very same day I stumbled upon a guy named Caleb Ralston. He worked with some heavy hitters like Gary Vaynerchuk who I've had on my old podcast, so I continued to listen on. This dude had a whole different vibe and message. I loved everything about him. Seems like a lot of my friends from my Harley days. Plus he was GIVING away his course. WTF?
I've done a branding exercise before for the Lex and Terry show and it was one of the best things I've done for my career. It was a painful, emotional and brutal process. But the end result left us knowing who we were as a show, which in turn showed us who our audience is. Totally worth it.
I've been throwing stuff up on my YouTube channel just to see how the whole thing works. I have some definite strengths and some major weaknesses as anyone who has stopped by can tell. But the lack of focus is the most apparent thing that hits you in the face.
I've never done a branding exercise on my own before. You know, for myself so this is going to be a wild ride. So I downloaded the workbook and got ready to start. Then it hit me. What better way to brand myself than to open up my soul to you - so you can see how important this is to me. And just maybe I can get a few of you to cheer me on.
I will hold NOTHING back. My radio career took of when I stopped trying to be a "DJ" with the fake radio voice and just decided to be myself. I am applying the same principals here. I have nothing to lose. Most people my age are thinking about their retirement. Not me. My age isn't ideal, but I've decided to use it to my advantage. My show idea isn't easy either but I can't stop thinking about it, so here we go.
I'll never be someone to look to help with your branding needs. Not even a desire for me. But I do love inspiring others to just go for it so that's what this is all about.
